5 Tracks You Need To Hear This Week (25/11/19)

Sports Team – The Races

Don’t you just love it when an upcoming band just releases banger after banger after BANGER?! Sports Team have done it again, with their new tune your feet are guaranteed to be moving as soon as you hear it!

With singalong sections, mad lyrics and gripping guitar lines, you need to get you ears wrapped around this one.

JAWS – Anyway, Now’s not the time

After being a huge JAWS fans ever since Milkshake EP I didn’t think I’d find my favourite tune by them 3 albums in but I have! This track is honestly brilliant, the vocals and guitar lines have so much power in them they just smack you right in the chops.

Strangely, I feel like it’s a lot different to what they have done before yet still sounding incredibly JAWS-Y, if thats even a word? So if you’ve liked them in the past, you’re going to love this tune.

Tame Impala – It Might Be Time

Yes, we’re all over the moon that the Psychedelic Australian kings are BACK! The latest piece from their upcoming LP The Slow Rush is certainly all we’d hoped for and more, combining beats with sirens and synths they definitely haven’t held back on this tune, by the end of the tune your head is bobbing along without even knowing.

They’ve just been announced for this year’s All Points East festival at Victoria Park so if you’ve caught Impala fever then I’d get yourself a ticket.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Wandering Star

This is the chief’s third EP since the chart topping LP “Who Built the Moon” landed in our ears, and he really seems to be getting the hang of this not writing Oasis tunes malarkey, don’t you think?

I personally loved Black Star Dancing and This is the Place but i can’t say I’m loving this tune as much. We see Noel making what I can only describe as a Christmas themed tune, with bells and lots of trumpets.

As I say at first listen I wasn’t overly impressed but after catching him on Jools Holland performing the track, I’m starting to warm to it. It’s got big guitars, catchy melodies and thumping drums, so actually, whats not to love about it?

Rex Orange County – Never Had The Balls

If you haven’t heard of this guy yet, then what have you been doing the past 3 years?! His new album PONY has been received with open arms by fans and critics and this tune is my personal favourite.

It kind of reminds me of elevator music, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he intended it to be that way! His voice flies over the top of the keys and delicate drum kit so well and you can’t help to listen to his great lyrics.

As I said, If you haven’t listened to Rex Orange County yet you NEED to. Like, Right Now.
